What We Inspect
Even new Buildings can and should be inspected. In busy marketplaces, Homes and Buildings are being built quickly, but not always to proper Building and Fire Code Standards. Included in our inspections are examinations of the following.
We operate both systems (heating & cooling), visually check the flue, thermostat, ducts, filters and blowers, electric, gas, oil, heat pump, sump pumps, and hot water systems. We operate fixtures, check heaters, exposed pipes & drains, sump pumps, water pressure and plumbing systems, and check for natural gas and carbon monoxide leaks with a detector.
We open panels, check wiring, lights, receptacles, switches and ground connections. We identify Safety Hazards and Code Violations.
We check visible roof surfaces, flashing, gutters, downspouts, storm drains, skylights, valleys, vents, attics, and the framing components. We also walk on the roof after we inspect the attic.
This includes the visible portions of foundations, framing, walls, floors, ceilings, porches, decks and roofs.
- Exterior Finishes & Accessories
This includes brick, stone, stucco, sidings, fascias, railings, stairs, trim, soffits, windows, doors, caulking, porches, decks, patios, steps, pavement, retaining walls, garages, and other accessories.
We visually check walls, floors, ceilings, windows and doors for water staining with our lighting system.
This is very important as it can affect water leakage, settlement, foundation problems & erosion.
We check accessible areas for signs of leakage and moisture. We also check the building's structural components.
We visually check chimneys, fireplaces & woodstoves, inserts and venting systems.
We visually check accessible areas, such as Attics and Crawl Spaces.
All Buildings should have regular periodic Fire Safety Inspections. We notify you when we see a hazard during our visit.
We check doors, electrical system, openers & windows, floors and structural components.
We check the framing, ventilation, insulation and roof sheathing for signs of moisture penetration.
